Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport (RED-S) is complex, and effective care requires more than one perspective. Join us for a two-hour multidisciplinary discussion featuring experts in sports medicine, nutrition, counseling, and psychiatry. Together, they’ll explore how RED-S presents in athletes, what sports medicine professionals need to recognize, and how a multidisciplinary team can work together to support assessment, treatment, and recovery.
UNDERSTANDING RED-S TAKES MORE THAN ONE PERSPECTIVE
Athletes experiencing RED-S may present with concerns that cross multiple areas of health and performance. The signs one professional sees may be only one part of a much larger picture.
This seminar brings together professionals from four areas of athlete care to examine RED-S through a multidisciplinary lens and discuss how collaboration can help support the athlete throughout assessment, treatment, and recovery.
THE DISCUSSION WILL INCLUDE:
– How RED-S can present in athletes
– Signs and concerns sports medicine professionals should recognize
– The roles of sports medicine, nutrition, counseling, and psychiatry
– What other disciplines need to be a part of the athlete’s care team
– How providers can communicate and collaborate across disciplines
– Supporting the athlete throughout treatment and recovery
