About this Event
Future Memory
What happens when yesterday imagines tomorrow?
Reconnect with KEF returns to KEF Music Gallery for an evening exploring two albums that changed the future of groove:
Jamiroquai’s Travelling Without Moving and Daft Punk’s Discovery
Released only a few years apart, both records looked backwards to move music forwards.
Jamiroquai drew from funk, soul, disco and acid jazz, bringing live musicianship and irresistible rhythm into a rapidly changing musical landscape.
Daft Punk transformed disco, house, pop and sampling into a futuristic world that continues to influence contemporary music.
Together, the albums tell a story about movement, technology, nostalgia and the enduring power of a great groove.
A listening experience designed to move you
Future Memory is focused listening, but it is not a passive evening.
These are records made for movement.
Expect basslines that fill the room, production details revealed through KEF's high-fidelity sound, powered by LS60 Wireless speakers and KC92 subwoofers, and the kind of collective energy that makes it difficult to remain completely still.
You will be encouraged to listen closely, but tapping feet, nodding heads and moving with the music are very much part of the experience.
This is where high-fidelity listening meets irresistible rhythm.
The journey
We will begin with Jamiroquai’s Travelling Without Moving, a record rooted in live instrumentation, funk and human groove.
The second half moves into Daft Punk’s Discovery, where memory, technology and dance music combine to create a vivid vision of the future.
Experienced together, the albums trace a journey from analogue warmth and musicianship towards sampling, electronic production and digital imagination.
