A five-week Bible study, Sundays at 9:45 a.m. Eastern, in person and on Google Meet -> https://www.theconfessionallutheran.org/Five hundred years ago, the Reformers summed up the Gospel in five short Latin phrases. Each one answers a question the Church still faces: who has the final word, how a sinner is saved, and to whom the glory belongs. This series takes each sola back to the Scriptures and the Lutheran Confessions.
October 4: Sola Scriptura (Scripture Alone)
Every dispute of the Reformation came down to one question: by what authority? We read Paul on the God-breathed Word, Peter on a Word more certain than his own experience, and the Formula of Concord on Scripture as the norm that norms all doctrine.
October 11: Sola Gratia (Grace Alone)
We cannot save ourselves, and on our own we cannot even desire rescue. Salvation begins entirely in God, who loved us while we were still His enemies.
October 18: Sola Fide (Faith Alone)
The article on which the Church stands or falls. God declares the sinner righteous for Christ's sake, received through faith and apart from works.
October 25: Solus Christus (Christ Alone)
One Mediator between God and man. No saint, no work, and no institution shares His office.
November 1: Soli Deo Gloria (Glory to God Alone)
If salvation is God's work from first to last, the glory is His alone. The series closes on All Saints' Sunday with the praise of the whole Church.
