About this Event

For millions of women and girls, the gravest danger is not a stranger. It is the home, the family, and sometimes the very community meant to keep them safe. And when they find the courage to leave, a second betrayal often waits: systems that were never built with them in mind.

Islamic Relief Worldwide will host a high-level dialogue on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly to confront that reality and ask what the humanitarian and faith worlds can do about it together. It opens with Naz Shah MP, who knows the subject from the inside: forced into marriage at fifteen, shaped by her mother's own imprisonment, she found her voice against almost impossible odds and carried it into the British Parliament. Her account sets the stakes. The conversation that follows widens them.

Around the table, senior voices from UNICEF, ACT Alliance, faith leaders and Member State representatives take up the harder questions. When "honour" is invoked to justify harm, who takes it back, and how? Too often faith enters this conversation only as part of the problem. What changes when it becomes part of the answer, with imams, women's groups, legislators and survivors in the same room, working the same problem?

Survivors, legislators, humanitarians and faith actors, determined that no woman is failed twice.
