Join First Light and Playable Glos on 25th November to challenge online harassment and help build safer, more inclusive gaming communities for women and girls.
Online spaces belong to all of us. It is time to reclaim them.
About this event
On 25 November, First Light will launch Reclaim the Net, a movement to take back online spaces for women and girls. Created as part of the 16 Days of Activism and delivered in partnership with Playable Glos, this event will bring people together to expose online harassment, challenge the culture that allows it to thrive and turn understanding into action.
Women and girls should not have to log off, disguise their names or genders, or hide who they are to feel safe. At this event, we will listen to lived experience, explore how gaming and online communities can empower and support people, and identify the part each of us can play in creating meaningful change.
Why attend?

What to expect
1pm: Professional session
From 1pm, professionals will come together to listen, learn and turn understanding into action. Playable Glos will bring insight from gaming communities, while First Light will share the support available to people affected by abuse and harassment. Attendees will then enter the centre's gaming and online spaces not simply to observe, but to see how these spaces can empower and support people.
From around 5pm: Open session
From around 5pm, the event will open out to parents and anyone who wants to understand online gaming communities, confront online harm and be part of building something better.
Launch Reclaim the Net
The event will launch the Reclaim the Net live feed and begin 16 days of activism. Women and girls will be invited to share their experiences throughout the campaign, making online harm visible and turning individual stories into collective action. Every story and every conversation can help build momentum beyond the event.
Who is this event for?
The afternoon session is for professionals who work with or support women and girls, gaming communities, young people or people affected by online abuse and harassment. The open session is for parents and anyone interested in online gaming communities, online safety and positive change.
