About this Event
🌿 Recipes of Love: A Celebration of Food, Culture & Stories in Haringey
Cookbook Launch Celebration at OmVed Gardens
Friday 24 April 2026 • 3:30pm – 7:00pm
After a remarkable year of cooking, storytelling, listening, and building community across Haringey, we are thrilled to invite you to the official launch of Haringey Recipes of Love and the unveiling of our first-ever community cookbook!
This project has travelled through 10 locations, highlighted 36 talented local chefs, and welcomed over 320 residents into spaces where food becomes the bridge between cultures, generations, and lived experiences. Together, we have created a tapestry of memories — one recipe at a time. Goan Community Centre (Tottenham), Gospel Centre (Hornsey), and Calvary Church (Northumberland Park) and the Antwerp Arms, Kurdish Advice Centre, Edible London, and others.
Now, we’re coming together at the extraordinary OmVed Gardens, an urban oasis where nature, creativity, food and community flourish side by side.
We are honoured to be hosting this celebration at OmVed Gardens, a unique regenerative urban garden and cultural space nestled in Highgate. OmVed is far more than a garden — it is a place where ecology, creativity, food, and community care are woven into everyday practice.
A sanctuary for food, creativity and connection
OmVed Gardens is described as “a garden, exhibition and educational space where nature and diverse ways of thinking can flourish”.
Spanning meadows, vegetable gardens, ponds, orchards, a greenhouse, an amphitheatre and beautiful timber pavilions, the site has been reimagined as “a living, breathing celebration of food, ecology, and culture”.
Its landscape was designed by Paul Gazerwitz and its buildings conceived by Piers Smerin, forming a “hilltop village” of interconnected spaces that blur the boundaries between architecture and nature.
A hub for creativity, community and resilience
OmVed is home to workshops, exhibitions, garden education, food events, seed‑saving programmes, and creative gatherings, all shaped to encourage reflection, collaboration and deeper connection with the natural world.
Their mission is rooted in food, ecology, art and wellbeing, supporting community resilience and learning through hands‑on experiences.
We’re proud to join forces with this visionary space — the perfect home for a celebration that honours food, memory, culture, and community.

Co‑created with the Humanity Project, Recipes of Love is rooted in a shared belief:
Food can build solidarity, connection and collective strength — one dish at a time.
Over the past year, this project has created warm, inclusive spaces across Haringey where residents shared the meals that shaped them and the stories that live within them. People spoke about childhood, migration, loss, joy, resilience, family rituals and dreams for the future — rediscovering the power of community conversation through food.
The cookbook we are launching is the culmination of this journey:
a celebration of the heart, history, and cultural richness of the borough.
Everyone is welcome — families, neighbours, community leaders, storytellers, artists, food lovers, and anyone curious about the rich cultural landscape of Haringey.
Whether you joined a Recipes of Love session earlier in the year or you’re discovering the project for the first time, this launch is also yours.
Everyone passionate about food, culture, art and humanity is warmly invited. See you there! 🎶❤️🍲
