About this Event
THEN & NOW is the inaugural jewelry collection by Rebecca Rau. It fuses ancient artifacts—from 1500 BC to 1600 AD—with vivid modern gemstones, lustrous pearls and precious metals. Each one-of-a-kind jewel is a contemporary amulet celebrating millennia of adornment. Rebecca hails from a New Orleans family steeped in antiques, art and jewels since 1912—when her great-grandfather founded their gallery M.S. Rau. Join us for a champagne reception, a guided collection tour or viewing hours!
Rebecca Rau
Rebecca Rau is a 4th generation antiquaire and jewelry dealer whose eye was shaped by a lifetime in her family’s New Orleans gallery M.S. Rau. Surrounded by rare art and extraordinary jewels, she developed a deep appreciation for history and artisanry.
After earning her Master’s from Sotheby’s Institute London, Rebecca traveled the world acquiring important jewels and artworks for M.S. Rau. She curated exhibitions on jewelry, art, and design, oversaw the gallery’s expansion, and helped secure its debut at TEFAF Maastricht, the world’s premier art and object fair. Along the way, she explored jewelry design, including a special collaboration with American jewelry house Oscar Heyman that celebrated both companies’ 110th anniversaries.
Now based in New York, Rebecca channels her experience into jewelry design. Her creations are refined yet playful, inviting collectors into a world of distinctive ornament that bridges past and present.
