Parallel Reality:In celebration of Reality Fracture, all legendary creatures have partner!...as long as they are both the same* IN MAGIC UNIVERSE character.
Examples:
- Kaalia, the Vast + Kaalia, Zenith Seeker
- Ghoulcaller Gisa + Gisa and Geralf
- Tinybones, the Pickpocket + Titanbones, Towering Heart.
- Akroma, Angel of Fury + Jeska, Thrice Reborn (per the Lore they're the same character, look it up)
- Urza, Powerstone Progeny + The Blind Seer (again, read the Lore)
No Universes Beyond commanders allowed, mostly because nobody wants to figure out which Spider Men are somehow the same character. You can still play UB cards in your 99. No exceptions. No, not even for Lord of the Rings or D&D.
There are also some VERY SPECIFIC rules regarding commanders:
- BOTH CARDS have to be legal commanders in their own right (no lands, planeswalkers, non-creature artifacts, etc.) This does allow planeswalkers who could normally be commanders (such as Aminatou, Veil Piercer + Aminatou, the Fateshifter)
- This does also allow cards with partner as long as both cards are the same character (Bruse Tarl, Boorish Herder + Bruse Tarl, Roving Rancher)
- For this season ONLY we are not limiting commanders to commanders with under 5k decks on EDHrec.
We do have a small ban list of characters
- Atraxa
- All Praetors (Elesh Norn, Jin-Gitaxis, Sheoldred, Urabrask, and Vorinclex)
- All Eldrazi Titans (Emrakul, Ulamog, and Kozilek)
- Jodah
- all 2 color versions of Niv-Mizzet (go crazy with the 5 color ones)
Additionally, your commander's price DOES NOT factor into the total $100 budget of your deck along with the basic lands. We want to embrace weird pairs and not leave you with $3 to spend on your deck list for choosing some weird, old card.
Please remember, we are still shooting for Bracket 2, casual, social decks with no Game Changers, no infinite 2 card combos, no fast combos, no chaining extra turns, and no mass land destruction. We are still looking for games that don't end before turn 8. This is not budget CEDH or time to break out your most busted combo. We are here to celebrate the spirit of Reality Fracture.
As someone who has to approve decks and catch flak from everyone who has an opinion about everyone else's deck, please be chill with this very powerful theme! As cool as it may be to build an oppressive engine or unstoppable deck, remember that people have to play multiple games with you. Additionally, if someone has a deck that you find miserable, you don't have to play your league deck against them, or even play against them at all. Please keep the social aspect of this format in mind and be a fun opponent.
