Every Tuesday evening the next weeks, you can read a book with other litterature enthusiasts.Throughout the reading and exploration of one of the Great books of literature, we encounter historical critical thinkers and excellent communicators. The exploration opens a smooth segue into rhetorical exercises, where we practice discussing our own views on the same passages.
This session will examine the work: The Odyssey by the author Homer, It tells the story of the hero Odysseus and his ten-year journey home after the fall of Troy. Throughout his journey he must outwit monsters, resist temptation, defy gods, and hold on to his sense of self, all while his wife Penelope and son Telemachus fend off suitors back home in Ithaca. The work delves into themes such as endurance, homecoming, and identity, and provides rich material for discussion.
You will learn:
- How to build more convincing arguments.
- How to speak convincingly for or against a position.
- How to debate critics and defend your reasoning.
- Develop your C1/C2 English vocabulary.
Practical information:
The course runs every Tuesday evening over the span of four weeks. Each session lasts 2-3 hours, including an optional hour of quiet reading for participants. If you have not had the time to read the passage before the course, this is the ideal time to do so! Light food and drinks will be served throughout the evening.
