About this Event
Rasa is a Sanskrit word for the "juice" or essence of emotion — the vibe you feel when someone physically expresses what they're feeling. Together we'll explore how this concept from ancient Indian theater can help you navigate emotions and relationships in daily life.
This introductory workshop shares ideas on training your Emotive Agility: rather than talking or thinking your way into a feeling, you'll be invited to access emotions from the outside in, through various postures, or asanas of emotion.
You'll learn a series of physical exercises designed to:
- Strengthen your ability to identify feelings
- Widen your access to a full range of emotions
- Regulate your emotional intensity and expressiveness
- Practice shifting your feelings to match the moment
You'll leave with a set of nine rasas and a felt sense of how quickly your physicality can change your emotional state. You'll learn strategies you can use right away - in hard conversations, in negotiations, or while networking in a room full of strangers.
No experience is necessary, though all of your life experience is applicable! Come curious. Push yourself out of your comfort zone if you'd like, or simply take in the ideas and adapt them your own way.
Open to ages 16+ with parental attendance.
