The Richmond Audubon Society (RAS) 2026 Annual Potluck and Photo Presentation is about a month away. This year’s potluck takes place on:Thursday, November 19, 2026
6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
First Unitarian Universalist Church
1000 Blanton Ave Richmond, VA 23221
Please refer to our website's schedule of upcoming events (https://richmondaudubon.org/upcoming-events) for official information, including any subsequent event changes.
Our planned itinerary for this year's potluck will be:
* 6:00 pm: Room set up begins
* 6:30 pm-ish: Meal begins
* 7:00 pm-ish: Photo presentation begins (typically runs about two hours)
Potluck:
* All members: please bring a dish or drinks to share with your fellow RAS members.
* A turkey and a ham will be provided. No need to bring either of these.
* We need a few members to help set up tables with tablecloths and decorations. If you would like to assist with this, please confirm with Lynn Evans ([email protected]).
Photos:
The Photo Presentation component of the Annual Potluck remains a very popular and fun RAS annual activity. We are treated to such wonderful bird photos and stories every year!
Photo Presentation Guidelines:
* Each participating member will be expected to provide a brief presentation describing their photos.
* Asking the audience to ID the bird species is totally acceptable (and fun).
* Please be courteous of others regarding the length of your commentary.
Photo Submission Guidelines:
* We are welcoming photo submissions NOW.
* Photos should be bird-related and from this calendar year (2026).
* There is a limit of 5 photos per participant presentation.
* In addition to your presentation, submitted photos will be displayed via a digital photo frame during the evening.
* If you would like to submit additional supplemental photos that are not part of your presentation, to be included in the digital photo frame, please include those in a separate email, clearly indicating that they are supplemental photos.
* We prefer no video files (due to technical considerations).
* Do not send any photos that have been compressed. The quality of compressed files is inadequate. If it takes sending 1-2 photos per email and sending multiple emails, that is FINE.
* Name your presentation photos using this format:
Last name_year_POTLUCK_photo #_species_location.
For example: Dixon_2026_POTLUCK_01_Atlantic Puffin_Maine
* Name any supplemental photos using this format:
Last name_year_SUPPLEMENTAL_photo #_species_location.
For example: Dixon_2026_SUPPLEMENTAL_01_Atlantic Puffin_Maine
* The order of your photos will be based on the photo # in the file name.
* Submit your photos to the following email address: [email protected] with attention to Alan Wingfield (RAS Board, President, and official Potluck Presentation Builder).
* Submit your photos by: Monday, November 9, 2026.
* Unless you direct otherwise, we will assume that we have your permission to use your photos on the RAS website and RAS social media outlets.
