Three spots left & only 1 pair of vases left to purchase (5/20/21)! Sweetwater Art Center and Fern Hollow Nature Center are partnering to offer a raku ceramic firing workshop!
Participants will remove their glowing pieces directly from a contained fire using tongs and place them in a vessel of combustible organic materials that immediately ignite from the heat of the pottery. This process creates surfaces ranging from black to turquoise to intense red/bronze and beautiful white crackle.
This workshop is open to those with their own completed pieces to fire, as well as those who just want to try this unique hands-on firing process (a set of vases are available to glaze and fire for $10).
Event held at Fern Hollow Nature Center: 1901 Glen Mitchell Rd, Sewickley, PA 15143
