Raise the Roof is a national circus performing arts showcase presented by CircUP Arts in Townsville, North Queensland.
This is not a state-based competition.
It is a national platform bringing together performers from across Australia to present, compete, connect, and grow within a professionally produced circus environment.
Raise the Roof exists to:
• Elevate circus as a recognised performance discipline
• Provide structured national showcasing opportunities
• Create connection across states and studios
• Position regional Australia as a leader in contemporary circus
Townsville becomes the meeting point for Australia’s emerging circus artists.
THE COMPETITORS
Raise the Roof is built around the performers.
Who Competes?
• Youth artists (8–18 years)
• Adult performers (18+)
Participants represent aerial arts, manipulation, acro disciplines, and contemporary circus theatre.
This is a showcase of skill, artistry, stagecraft, and technical excellence.
NATIONAL SHOWCASE FORMAT
Day One – Performance Showcase
• 3–5 minute solo or group acts
• Professionally judged
• Full stage production (lighting, sound, MC)
• Open public audience
Day Two – National Development Day
• Masterclasses with interstate trainers
• Artist networking sessions
• Coach & studio roundtables
• Youth pathway discussions
• Industry conversations
This ensures performers gain not just stage time — but national connection and growth.
