Radio Laria Poetry Series presents:'One Body One Soul', a collection by Leila Lois, Walleah Press.
⋆⊱༻𖥸༺⊰⋆
Join Radio Laria for the launch of 'One Body One Soul', a non-fiction poetry collection that blossomed from archival research on one of ballet's most transcendent partnerships: Margot Fonteyn and Rudolf Nureyev. Leila Lois reads from the book, with live music, a film and dance interwoven through the poetry.
WHEN: Thursday 18 February, 7pm
WHERE: Library Portal, opposite 11 Hawthorn Rd, Northcote
Tickets: $10 full / $5 concession, with optional "generous" tiers to support the artists and grassroots venue.
More about the collection:
Behind the lights were two people marked by displacement and loss: Nureyev, the tempestuous perfectionist fleeing Soviet oppression, and Fonteyn, English-Brazilian "darling of ballet", carrying her own hidden sorrows. In each other they found spiritual completion. Where archival evidence meets interpretation and memory dances with imagination, this is their achingly human story, retold in poetry.
The night also features a guest artist (TBC) and 10 open-mic spots (five minutes each, sign up on the night). Radio Laria prioritises women and gender-diverse poets, writers and storytellers.
