About this Event
Join us on Thursday October 22nd at Randall’s Island Urban Farm for a free “Radical Compost Sifting Party: A Workshop on Soil and People Care in NYC.” When we compost and care for soils together, we care for and transform ourselves and our communities. But what makes compost “radical”? Why do we do it? Who benefits? And what makes radical composting possible in the middle of a big city like New York City? At this workshop, we will sift finished compost together while imagining a radical composting landscape in NYC through the lens of desire. As we prepare compost to nourish the farm soil for the turning of the seasons, we will share knowledge, hopes, and practices for creating our past, present, and future in community with ancestral contexts and long-time compost and soil stewards. We will also nourish ourselves with a lovely meal prepared by La Morada.
Special guests:
Colin Burns (Big Reuse)
Kwesi Joseph (Cornell)
Gil Lopez (Smiling Hogshead Ranch)
