About this Event
In this talk, Dr Ekene Agbim will discuss the work from the British Medical Journal, the General Medical Council, and the Workforce Race Equality Standard regarding racism in medicine, as well as her own involvement as the inaugural London co-chair of the British Medical Association Forum for Racial and Ethnic Equality. The presentation will examine the experiences of healthcare staff from the global majority in comparison to their white counterparts concerning bullying, harassment, differential attainment, and complaints, alongside the experiences of patient groups from the global majority. Ultimately, the presentation will emphasise the importance of developing solutions to address racism and prejudice within healthcare systems, supported by data showing that resolving these issues improves the quality of care for all patients.
Join us for an important conversation exploring racial inequality within healthcare, its impact on minoritised communities, and the frameworks designed to address it.
