From Bin to Business Case: How Going Verspillingsvrij Pays for Itself

A Circular Economy Collage workshop — Tuesday 10 November 2026, 17:00–20:00

The Social Hub Maastricht, Sphinxcour 9A, Maastricht

The transition to a circular economy is in full swing. Legislation is changing, raw materials are becoming scarcer, and societal expectations are increasing. Entrepreneurs, citizens, governments and associations who anticipate these developments now are not only more future-proof, but also more resilient.

But how do you actually make that shift? And what does our use of natural resources really cost us — as businesses, as a city, as a planet?

Come find out in an interactive, group-based quiz built on collective intelligence and scientific information. In just 1.5 hours, the Circular Economy challenge will give you a clearer understanding of the issues related to our use of natural resources and the waste we generate — and show you where the concrete opportunities lie.

What you'll discover

• Which resources do we consume the most, and which are most under pressure?

• What impacts do our consumption and waste generation have on those resources and on the planet in general?

• How can I contribute to reducing those impacts in my daily life?

• How can companies evolve their business models — and where are the savings and new revenue streams hiding?

The workshop covers topics such as climate change, biodiversity loss, resource scarcity and pollution generated by human activities — and enables you to identify concrete courses of action. You will leave more aware, better informed and genuinely motivated to "circularise" the way you work.

About the workshop

The Circular Economy Collage is a stimulating, group-based workshop founded on scientific information, which enables participants to grasp the limits of our existing global "linear" economy and understand the opportunities offered by the circular economy. Inspired by the Climate Fresk, the workshop allows you to understand the issues surrounding our use of natural resources, our generation and treatment of waste, and other impacts caused by human activities.

The workshop lasts usually 3 hours and takes place in groups of 6–7 people per facilitator. But this time we will make a shorter version in form of a quiz and in 1.5 hours for a larger audience.

It is aimed at the general public and open to all, whatever your level of knowledge on these subjects — no sustainability degree required, and nobody will lecture you about plastic straws.

For whom?

  • Entrepreneurs and employees (SMEs) from all sectors — discover circular opportunities, share practical experiences and work on applicable actions for your business, in the areas of smart collaboration, cost reduction and waste prevention.
  • Associations & foundations with significant societal involvement — strengthen your impact and contribute to awareness within your network.
  • Any citizen who wants to learn more about zero waste and understand what is happening in the world.

Whether you want to make a profit with circular initiatives or are looking for ways to make your social mission more sustainable: this workshop is for you.
