About this Event
Paper quilling is something I was introduced to in the 1980's. I did it for a little while and then dropped it to try other things. At that time I thought it was something "new." In fact it is quite old.
Paper quilling or paper filigree dates back centuries. In the Renaissance gold edged paper was used by less affluent churches to mimic the ornate gold filigree of the more prosperous churches. In the Regency era, it was a common accomplishment of refined young ladies. Swirls of paper decorated boxes, baskets, tabletops and any other item they could put it on. It's even mentioned in one of Jane Austin's books. (I'll tell you which one in class.)
The last two Christmases I've gotten back to quilling and have enjoyed making ornaments and Christmas cards. Come join us and find out how much fun this can be.
Limit of eight (8) participants. All supplies and tools provided. $45 per person.
