Queer life in Alaska has a long history, and so many of those stories live in the people who were there.Queerstory is an intergenerational storytelling night bringing together queer elders, organizers, drag performers and community members to share stories from across the decades.
We’ll have invited storytellers throughout the evening, but the floor will also be open for anyone who wants to share a poem, a memory, a funny story or a piece of local queer history.
We want younger folks to hear about the queer community that has been here for generations, and for elders to hear what it’s like growing up queer now. It’s a chance to learn from each other, celebrate how our community has grown and connect across generations.
You are also more than welcome to just come and listen. All ages are welcome, and you do not have to share to be part of the evening. Come learn about our history, hear the stories that shaped our community and help us carry them forward.
