About this Event

Valentine’s Day can be a tricky one. If you’re feeling the hype, the pressure, the loneliness, or just the sense that everyone else has a plan, come and spend the day with your queer community instead.

We’re heading to the Natural History Museum for a shared visit: a gentle, social, no-pressure trip where we can wander, wonder, and chat at our own pace. We’ll come face to face with a Tyrannosaurus, take in the Blue Whale in Hintze Hall, and explore the museum’s iconic galleries together, from dinosaurs and human evolution to volcanoes and earthquakes, precious gems, and meteorites.

It’s a gorgeous way to spend time with Queer Theatre members outside of our usual classes, and to explore our humanity through nature, history, and the stories we tell ourselves about the world. And yes, it’s Valentine’s Day. There’s still a mood of love in the air. Who knows who you might meet between the fossils and the gemstones.

Feel free to bring a camera, a sketch pad, or just yourself and see what might inspire your imagination and foster connection while others pay a fortune on roses.

Meeting Point

11:00am: Meet outside Caffè Nero, 66 Old Brompton Road, London SW7 3LQ (right by South Kensington station). Feel free to grab a takeaway coffee, then we’ll head to the museum together.

Itinerary

11:00am Meet outside Caffè Nero (optional takeaway coffee)
11:30am Walk to the Natural History Museum together
Visit key galleries together (including dinosaurs and Hintze Hall)
Lunch break at approximately 1:30pm to 2:30pm
Explore other galleries, gift shop, and museum spaces together
We expect to finish around approximately 5pm.
We recommend bringing a packed lunch or snacks. There are cafés on site if you’d rather buy food and drink, but they can get very busy, especially on weekends.

Box Office

We ask for a £10 donation per person to help cover Queer Theatre admin costs, staffing, and the planning of future community trips that explore our humanity together through art, nature, history, galleries, performance spaces and shared experiences.

Content Note / Trigger Warning

This visit is designed to be supportive and calm, but museums can be busy, noisy, and overstimulating, especially on weekends. Some exhibits include taxidermy, preserved specimens, and themes of extinction, death, and natural disaster.

Please prioritise your wellbeing. You’re welcome to step out at any time, take breaks, or skip any areas that do not feel right. If you’d like clarification on any content notes or want support planning your visit, please contact us in advance.

Important Information

This is a community visit, not a guided tour. You are welcome to engage quietly, take your time, and move through the galleries in whatever way feels right for you. If you’d like a buddy for the visit, or would feel safer not doing the galleries alone, we encourage you to come along and stay close to the group.
