Bring your scraggly seed heads and leave with a shaker full of wildflowers for guerrilla gardening. Then a potluck.About this Event
Bring your scraggly seed heads and leave with a shaker full of wildflowers for some guerrilla gardening. Then stay for a potluck with the Queer Garden Network at the Miscalaireomm.
Agenda
- 6:00 to 7:00 pm | Seed cleaning + shaker filling
- 7:00 to 8:30 pm | Potluck & hangout
Seed Cleaning
Bring your native seeds however they come, stems and fluff and all. We'll thresh and clean them together until they're ready to scatter.
Shaker Filling
We pour everything into spice shakers and small jars, so you walk away with a pocket-sized seed bomb kit. Shake it over empty lots, new construction dirt, or any bare patch that could use some wildflowers. November is pretty much perfect timing, since a lot of Michigan natives need a winter's cold before they sprout.
Potluck
At 7 we shift into potluck mode. Share food, relax, and connect with other queer gardeners. Come for the potluck only if you like.
Food & Vibe
- Provided: vegan stew
- To bring: a dish to pass is welcome but not expected
- Vibe: mischievous craft night with dirt under the nails, then sweatpants-level potluck chill. Seasoned seed saver or never collected a seed in your life, you're welcome.
What To Bring
Nothing required. There are extra seeds and shakers, so nobody leaves empty-handed. Optional:
- Native seeds from your garden [or the park, if you're feeling a little naughty]
- Empty spice shakers or small jars
- A dish to pass
