About this Event
Qi Gong - Every Thursday 10 am
Qi Gong: Gentle Flow for Mobility and Breath
Qi Gong (pronounced "chee gung") is an ancient Chinese practice that combines slow, flowing movement with steady, mindful breathing. Often described as "moving meditation," it helps energy, or qi, flow freely through the body, leaving you feeling calmer, looser and more at ease.
This class is designed with our older community in mind. Every movement is gentle, rhythmic and easy to follow, and you can do it standing or seated in a chair. There's no need for flexibility, fitness or experience. Just come as you are.
What to expect
- Joint mobility: Soft, circular movements ease stiffness in the shoulders, hips, knees, wrists and spine, helping you stay supple and comfortable in everyday life.
- Breath with movement: Each sequence is linked to slow, natural breathing, which supports relaxation, focus and a sense of inner calm.
- Balance and steadiness: Gentle weight shifts build confidence on your feet and help you feel grounded.
- A friendly, unhurried pace: Classes are relaxed and welcoming, with plenty of time to settle in, ask questions and connect with others.
You'll leave feeling lighter, more mobile and refreshed. Many people find it helps with sleep, stress and that general feeling of "oiling the joints."
Wear: Comfortable clothing and flat shoes, or bare feet.
Suitable for: All abilities, with chair options throughout.
