About this Event

Erik Harris has been practicing qigong and tai chi for 20 years. In 2009 he was certified through the Wu Healing center as an advanced qigong practitioner. His training is in the Feng Yang Chinese Medicine tradition that dates back over 1,700 years. Erik’s Teacher Dr. Ming Wu was a Tai Chi student of Gin Soon Chu who was the 6th generation lineage holder of Yang Style Tai Chi.

Erik specializes in teaching people with chronic illness and pain. He often modifies the practices so all people can do them. Qi gong and Tai Chi has been an instrumental part of Erik’s own healing journey and he loves to share these ancient healing arts so others can find healing through using them as well.

Qi gong is an ancient Chinese healthcare system that is the foundation for Tai Chi. Qi gong literally translates in Chinese to the practice of moving energy.

Qi gong focuses on breath and movement to open up the energy flow in the body.

Qi gong is commonly referred to as meditation in motion.

This class will also integrate some Tai Chi forms after we practice some Qi gong.

Movements will be done in the standing position. You will be lead through each exercise with mindfulness. The focus will be on the breath and feeling the energy of the body.

There are many benefits to Qi Gong.

The gentle, rhythmic movements of Qi Gong helps to:

  • reduce stress & anxiety
  • build stamina
  • increase vitality of the body & organs
  • enhance the immune system

It has been found to improve cardiovascular, respiratory, circulatory, lymphatic and digestive functions.

Qi gong can help with neurological disorders like Parkinson's, because it improves fine and gross motor movements.

It has been known to help with osteoarthritis, osteopenia, and osteoporosis by strengthening the bones and joints.

One of the more important long-term effects is that Qi Gong reestablishes the body/mind/spirit connection.

There will be brief meditation with a singing bowl, aromatherapy, and an inspirational reading at the end of class.

$20 per class or $60 per month.
