MEN OF STOCKBRIDGE AND THE SURROUNDING COMMUNITIES, I WANT TO PERSONALLY INVITE YOU TO PULL UP A CHAIR.For some time now, I have had a burden on my heart concerning men and what happens when we don't have a place where we can come together, talk honestly about life, learn from one another, and build relationships with other men who understand some of the responsibilities and pressures that we carry.
That is one of the reasons we started The Legacy Table USA.
I believe there are men in our community who have years of wisdom and experience that somebody else desperately needs. At the same time, there are younger men coming behind us who are trying to navigate marriage, fatherhood, careers, business, leadership, finances, relationships, mistakes, disappointments, and simply becoming the men they were created to be.
Somewhere along the way, we stopped sitting down together.
I want to help change that. Beginning with our Tuesday gatherings, we're bringing The Legacy Table USA into the community at Clark Park in Stockbridge. Every Tuesday at 6:00 PM, men are invited to bring a chair, come sit with us, and be part of a real conversation about life, brotherhood, mentorship, accountability, restoration, leadership, family, and legacy.
This isn't about having everything together before you come. In fact, you may be in one of the most difficult seasons of your life right now. You may be doing well and simply looking for an opportunity to pour some of what you've learned into another man. You may be a young man who needs an older man in your corner, or you may be an older man who realizes that the things you've learned through your victories and your mistakes shouldn't die with you.
Either way, there is room for you at this table. One of the things I want us to rebuild in our community is genuine mentorship between generations. I want our younger men to have access to seasoned men who can encourage them, challenge them, correct them when necessary, and help them avoid some of the mistakes that many of us had to learn from the hard way. And I want our seasoned men to understand that we are still needed.
Our experience matters. Our stories matter. Our mistakes can teach somebody. Our victories can inspire somebody. And our presence in the lives of the next generation may accomplish more than we realize. So I'm personally inviting you.
Come out Tuesday at 6:00 PM to Clark Park in Stockbridge.
Bring your lawn chair, and don't come alone if you can help it. Bring your son. Bring your father. Bring your brother. Bring a coworker. Bring a young man you've been meaning to spend some time with. Bring that friend who has been going through something but keeps telling everybody he's okay.
We don't have to agree on everything to sit at the same table. We simply have to care enough about one another and our community to show up.
