About this Event
This November marks 70 years of continuous operation of the San José-Santa Clara Regional Wastewater Facility (RWF).
What started in 1956 as a small, primary treatment plant has grown into one of the largest advanced wastewater treatment plants in the Western United States, serving approximately 1.5 million residents and more than 17,000 commercial and industrial customers across eight South Bay cities.
Let's celebrate! On behalf of the City of San José, the administering agency of the RWF, you are invited to tour the Facility on Saturday, November 7 or Saturday, November 14, 2026.
These will be the first opportunities for the general public to tour the Facility since 2017!
Learn about the treatment process used at the plant, daily operations, infrastructure improvements, and the many programs that help keep South San Francisco Bay healthy.
We recommend participants be over the age of 10 years old.
