After our post yesterday, we've seen a lot of questions going around about when and where the Green County Zoning and Land Use Committee's planned public hearing for consideration of a moratorium on data centers will take place. We thought it would be useful for residents of the county to use a Facebook event to mark their calendars with the information about this hearing. Per the letter published by Green County Zoning Administrator Adam M. Wiegel:
PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE
There will be a public hearing before the Green County Zoning and Land Use Committee relative to the following Ordinance amendment to the Green County Zoning Code:
ORDINANCE 26-0701
Creation of Section 4-3-2-7
ENACTING A MORATORIUM ON DATA CENTERS
ORDINANCD 26-0702
Creation of Section 4-3-3-7 Short-Term Rentals
The public hearing will be held in the County Board Room, of the Green County Courthouse, 1016 16th Avenue, Monroe, Wisconsin, on Monday, July 13, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. All those who are concerned or affected by such action are urged to attend. A copy of the proposed ordinance is on file for inspection at the Zoning Office at 1016 16th Avenue, Monroe, during normal business hours.
GREEN COUNTY ZONING ADMINISTRATION
Please note that Monroe, WI 50501 Movement is not at all affiliated with the Green County Zoning Administration, the Green County Zoning and Land Use Committee, or the Green County Board of Supervisors. We are an independent community action group that believes the encroachment of A.I. data centers to be extremely impactful to residents of Southern Wisconsin, and we also urge all residents of the county to make plans to attend this public hearing, or contact members of the Green County Zoning and Land Use Committee to share thoughts ahead of the hearing.
Committee information, including member contact info can be found at: https://greencountywi.org/267/Land-Use-Zoning.
