Join us on Wednesday from 6:30 – 8 pm for our Public Domain Theatre program! This month’s free movie is the groundbreaking 1920 German expressionist film The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari.A cornerstone of horror and experimental cinema, The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari tells the eerie story of a hypnotist and his somnambulist who may—or may not—be responsible for a series of murders. Directed by Robert Wiene, the film is renowned for its twisted sets, stark visuals, and unreliable narrative, influencing everything from film noir to modern psychological thrillers.
💡 Fun fact: The film’s jagged, hand-painted sets were designed to visually reflect the characters’ fractured mental states—an approach that helped define German Expressionism.
This event is free, and light concessions will be available for purchase during the show. Please stick around after the movie for a post-film discussion with host Dennis Everette.
