Join the Psychedelic Assembly at InnerMost for an evening with author Abbie Rosner celebrating her new book, Psychedelics and the Counterculture of Aging. Drawing on interviews with more than 30 older psychonauts alongside the latest clinical research, Rosner explores how psychedelic experiences are helping redefine what it means to grow older—with stories of healing, authenticity, forgiveness, purpose, and coming to terms with mortality. Together we'll examine the promise, risks, and evolving role of psychedelics in later life, and what these pioneering elders can teach all of us about aging in a culture that so often fears it.
The evening will feature a work-in-progress screening of the short animated film "Gray Trippers" by Prof. Ruth Lingford of Harvard's Department of Art, Film and Visual Studies. The film was produced with a grant from the Mahindra Center's Study of Psychedelics in Society and Culture program at Harvard.
The conversation will be followed by an audience Q&A and book signing, with copies of the book available for purchase on-site.
Note: Doors Open at 7:30pm and there is no early entry. InnerMost is a shoes-off space, so we will ask everyone to remove their shoes at the door.
Abbie Rosner researches and writes about how her generation of Baby Boomers is exploring the drugs of their youth to enhance their experience of aging. In her forthcoming book, Psychedelics and the Counterculture of Aging, she suggests that the growing underground movement of older adults using psychedelics is helping rewrite the narrative around aging - as a time of healing, growth, spiritual deepening, joyous intimacy, supportive community, and acceptance of the inevitability of death.
