Tickets (not including Eventbrite Fees): $50 for the general public, $40 for Renaissance Society members and Sac State Faculty, and $5 for Sac State Students. Please use your Sac State email if applicable to confirm eligibility. RS Members will be checked against our registration list.
Neal Katyal has argued over 50 cases to the US Supreme court. His most recent success was the 6-3 decision on the Tarriff case in which the court struck down the Trump Tarriff program. The New York Times reported that the Tarriff case was the most important ruling in this century. He also successfully defended the constitutionality of the Voting Rights Act of 1965.
He has been on the list of the top 200 lawyers every year in the Law Dragon Magazine from 2005 to 2026 and by Forbes magazine in 2024. He served as Acting US Solicitor General in the Clinton administration. Mr. Katyal has argued more Supreme Court cases in US history as a minority lawyer, surpassing Thurgood Marshall. He has received many awards among them the highest civilian award given by the Department of Justice the Edmund J. Randolph Award.
In addition to his work as a lawyer, he is a Professor at Georgetown University
