Poe House remains open and welcoming visitors, but the stark conditions surrounding the museum are increasingly affecting daily operations. Unscheduled delays entirely out of our hands have prolonged the security condition, along with the exposure of the building next door to the elements and the extraordinary costs now falling to Poe Baltimore.
That uncertainty has already forced us to move this year’s Poe Festival away from Poe House. It has also brought new security concerns, water intrusion and vandalism, along with the added responsibility of monitoring Poe House during the imminent demolition beside us.

Note: Every dollar spent during demolition is a dollar we cannot save for the future museum. However, if immediate conditions change and these needs are fully met, remaining funds will support Phase 1 of the Poe House expansion.
