At Hamelin, we understand that preparing for adulthood is an exciting journey. It is also a time of change, with new opportunities, decisions and responsibilities.
Transition is not just about turning 18 or moving from children's to adult services. It is about developing the confidence, skills and independence needed to live the life you choose. Planning for adulthood usually begins from Year 9 (around age 14) and continues into early adulthood, allowing young people to develop at their own pace.
Every young person's journey is different. Some may be thinking about college or employment, while others may want to learn everyday life skills, make new friends or become more involved in their community. At Hamelin, we believe everyone should have the opportunity to achieve their personal goals and aspirations through person-centred support.
