Who are we? Where do we come from? What does it mean to be human?Join Professor Alice Roberts for From Cell to Civilisation, a spectacular live stage show exploring the extraordinary story of us — from the first spark of life on Earth to the emergence of our species and the rise of civilisations.
Blending archaeology, evolutionary biology and genetics with theatrical sound, lighting and imagination, Alice brings the science of our origins to life. This is a journey spanning almost four billion years, revealing the connections between living things and the discoveries that have transformed our understanding of humanity.
Follow in the footsteps of our ancestors as they spread from Africa into Asia, around the Indian coastline to Australia, north into Europe and Siberia, and eventually into the Americas. Along the way, meet other human species and explore what the evidence reveals about our shared past.
Discover the sophistication of some of the earliest civilisations, examine how scientists piece together clues from ancient remains and DNA, and consider how we know what we know about the people who came before us.
An evening for curious minds, From Cell to Civilisation invites you to look at humanity through the remarkable lens of science.
This is the story of us, from single cell to civilisation.
