About this Event
Inspired by the intricate Gothic Revival designs of Augustus Pugin, this hands-on afternoon workshop invites you to create your own Gothic pattern from scratch.
You’ll learn the basics of linocut printmaking, from developing a design and carving your lino block to inking and printing your finished pattern. You’ll have the chance to experiment with Gothic-inspired motifs and create something uniquely yours to take home.
Whether you’re completely new to printmaking or already enjoy getting your hands messy with ink, this is an opportunity to slow down, get crafty and explore the decorative language of the Gothic Revival.
Bring your own garment to customise - T-shirt, hoodie, jacket, jeans - cotton or linen takes ink best! If you don’t want to bring a piece of clothing, scrap materials which patches can be made from will also be provided.
In the workshop, you’ll:
· Explore Gothic Revival patterns and motifs inspired by Pugin
· Develop your own original design
· Learn how to carve a lino printing block
· Experiment with inking and hand-printing
· Create your own printed patterns to take home
· Enjoy an afternoon of making, conversation and refreshments
No previous printmaking experience is required. All printing materials and tools will be provided.
Come and make your own little piece of Gothic Revival.
