Pretty Pace is going international, girl! 🇨🇦
Join the Waistee Girls for Pretty Pace Vol. 3, as we bike from Detroit across the Gordie Howe International Bridge into Canada and make our way right back to Detroit.
We’ll cross into Canada, complete Canadian border processing, turn around, and ride back across to Detroit, where we’ll complete U.S. border processing. (Gordie Howe International Bridge)
🚲 NEED A BIKE?
You may rent a bike from Wheelhouse Detroit before the event.
IMPORTANT: If renting from Wheelhouse, you are responsible for transporting your rental bike to the Gordie Howe International Bridge area. Do not plan to bike from Wheelhouse to our meetup location. Please arrange a vehicle/bike rack or another safe way to transport your bike.
There is no on-site parking at the bridge's Port of Entry, so please review parking and transportation instructions before event day. The official bridge site currently identifies Clark Park Trailhead as a Detroit-side parking option. (Gordie Howe International Bridge)
🛂 THIS IS AN INTERNATIONAL BORDER CROSSING
Please understand that we are leaving the United States and entering Canada. This is not simply a recreational ride over a local bridge.
Every participant will be processed by Canadian border officials when entering Canada and U.S. border officials when returning to Detroit. The bridge requires cyclists using the multi-use path to carry proper cross-border travel documents. (Gordie Howe International Bridge)
We strongly recommend bringing a valid passport. The bridge also identifies NEXUS as an accepted travel document, but requirements can vary depending on citizenship and immigration status. Canada recommends a valid passport as the universally accepted travel and identification document. Please personally verify that your documentation is sufficient for BOTH entry into Canada and re-entry into the United States before registering. (Canada)
Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult and must also have appropriate travel documentation. If an adult is traveling internationally with a minor who is not their child or for whom they do not have legal custody, Canadian authorities recommend carrying a consent letter from the parent or legal guardian. Please do not attend if you are not prepared or legally able to cross the international border.
Waistee Girls cannot guarantee that any individual will be admitted into Canada or readmitted into the United States. Admission decisions are made solely by the appropriate border authorities. If you are denied entry, delayed, detained for additional processing, or otherwise unable to continue with the group, the group cannot remain behind, and you will be responsible for arranging your own return transportation and any associated costs.
💕 BEFORE YOU COME
Bring your bike, helmet, water, valid travel documents, valid photo identification, and wear your PINK. Please arrive early enough to be completely ready to ride at 11:00 AM.
This is a social ride, not a race. The bridge's multi-use path has a maximum cycling speed of 12 mph, pedestrians have the right of way, and cyclists may need to ride single file in certain situations. (Gordie Howe International Bridge)
