Doing an amazing resin pour on a solid wood peacock substrate
About this Event

NEW FOR FALL!

Creating with resin is amazing and the possibilities are endless - really!

Each participant is provided with a large 24" baltic birch peacock substrate to decorate with resin and rhinestones! The "crowning glory" will be the amazing jewelry headpiece. The blue/green/purple colours are absolutely the most stunning combination but you get to choose your colour scheme for your peacock so please give that some thought before coming to class. This will be a very fast paced workshop and any decision making that you can decide on prior to the workshop will help you finish your project without feeling rushed. Four hours goes REALLY FAST!

As you know, there are endless ideas for the outcome of your art piece as each one of you will undoubtedly have a different idea in mind that you want to create with no two EVER the same. You will be supplied with a specific amount of rhinestones as shown on the peacock in the photo (turquoise, purple, green & blue) which you can arrange in any way you would like to.

A few basic techniques for resin will be demonstrated by your Creative Coach and you will be given a small window of time to practice these prior to doing your final pour on your art piece which alleviates the pressure of not being confident with how things will go. This way you can test your colour combination choices as well as have the opportunity to see how resin flows and blends etc. Your Creative Coach BerylAnne will do a demonstration and teach how to prep, mix resin with mica powder and/or resin paste; as well as how to use the torch and heat gun to pop gas bubbles and to give you some very cool results!

*PLEASE NOTE: Resin requires a minimum of 12 hours to cure so you won't be able to take your project home with you the same day.

This is a teaching workshop and considered intermediate level where previous experience using resin is required. No one under the age of 18 is allowed to attend unless preapproved by the workshop coordinator (please contact BerylAnne 403.483.7270). Dress in old clothing because resin is impossible to remove once on your clothes (aprons and gloves are provided).

Refreshments such as pop, water, coffee & tea and prepackaged treats like chocolate bars & chips are included but feel free to bring your snack/beverage if you want.

Lower level studio location so you will need to be able to go up and down one flight of stairs (with bannister) independently.

All supplies are included in the cost of the workshop.

Preferred registration is by etransfer to [email protected] or through our ticketing agent, Eventbrite
