About this Event
Press & Polish: Mini Nail Art Canvas Lab — Columbus
Ten tiny canvases. One color story. Build a complete nail-art display set from the first palette choice to the final detail.”
Press & Polish is a small-format visual-art workshop built around miniature nail-shaped canvases.
Sixteen participants work with detached plastic display tips at tabletop stations.
You will plan a color direction, paint the individual pieces, add small visual details, and arrange the completed set on a display card.
No manicure is performed.
No participant’s natural nails are painted, shaped, filed, treated, fitted, glued, or otherwise serviced during the workshop.
The activity takes place entirely on detached craft pieces.
No previous art experience is required.
THIS IS A CREATIVE ART WORKSHOP
The central activity is visual design.
Participants work on detached nail-shaped display tips in the same way another miniature-art workshop might use small tiles, cards, or model pieces.
The workshop does not provide:
• Manicures
• Pedicures
• Acrylic extensions
• Gel extensions
• Nail fitting
• Nail application
• Nail removal services
• Cuticle work
• Natural-nail preparation
• Hand or foot treatments
The instructor does not perform nail services on attendees.
YOUR PROJECT
Each paid participant receives a set of ten detached display tips for the workshop activity.
The working goal is:
ONE 10-PIECE NAIL-ART DISPLAY SET
The finished pieces are mounted or organized on a take-home display card.
The set is the participant’s own workshop output.
It is not advertised as a manicure service, cosmetic treatment, or professionally fitted wearable nail set.
STEP 1 - CHOOSE A VISUAL DIRECTION
Begin with one simple design mood.
Examples may include:
MINIMAL
Clean color, lines, negative space, and small geometric details.
SOFT COLOR
Pastel or muted combinations with restrained pattern work.
METALLIC DETAIL
High-contrast accents and foil-inspired visual elements.
MIXED PATTERN
A more expressive combination of color, lines, decals, and small embellishments.
These are creative starting points rather than fixed designs.
STEP 2 - BUILD YOUR COLOR PLAN
Complete a Color Planning Card.
Choose:
ONE BASE DIRECTION
What is the main visual feeling?
ONE SUPPORTING COLOR
What helps the set feel connected?
ONE ACCENT
Where will contrast appear?
ONE OR TWO DETAIL TECHNIQUES
What will repeat across the set?
The purpose is to make the design decisions before decorating all ten pieces.
STEP 3 - PAINT THE MINI CANVASES
Work on detached plastic tips secured to the workshop surface.
The session may introduce beginner-friendly techniques such as:
• Solid color blocking
• Simple lines
• Dots
• Geometric shapes
• Repeated motifs
• Negative-space effects
• Small decal placement
• Foil-style craft accents
• Small decorative elements
The instructor demonstrates the technique on detached demonstration pieces.
STEP 4 - BUILD A COHESIVE SET
Not every piece needs to be identical.
Practice balancing:
• Statement pieces
• Simpler pieces
• Repeated colors
• Repeated shapes
• Visual spacing
The objective is one set that feels intentionally related.
STEP 5 - LAYOUT & DISPLAY
Arrange the ten finished pieces into a final sequence.
Ask:
Which pieces carry the main idea?
Which pieces give the design visual breathing room?
Does the palette repeat enough to feel connected?
Then mount or organize the finished pieces on the provided display card.
