Thank you for partnering with Nuestro Chicago Archives and participating in our Siempre Aquí Initiative! Did you know VHS tapes were once the most popular tape format that families recorded their home movies on? Now in 2026, the memories are starting to deteriorate at a rapid rate and the equipment needed to play these tapes is becoming more obsolete. Archivists are currently racing against the clock to digitize and preserve these memories before they become permanently lost for future generations. We launch this project in hopes that Chicago’s Latine stories, voices, and history remain Siempre Aquí.

Ahora, en 2026, los recuerdos están empezando a deteriorarse a un ritmo rápido y el equipo necesario para reproducir estas cintas se está volviendo más obsoleto. Actualmente, los archivistas están compitiendo contra reloj para digitalizar y preservar estos recuerdos antes de que se pierdan permanentemente para las generaciones futuras. During your visit, we will: inventory your tapes, discuss their contents, and assist in selecting one tape you would like digitized for free. Please bring up to three (3)VHS tapes so we can help you decide which one to preserve.
Durante tu visita, nosotros: inventariaremos tus cintas de video, hablaremos de su contenido y te ayudaremos a seleccionar una cinta de video que quieras digitalizar de forma gratuita. Por favor, lleva hasta tres (3)cintas VHS para que podamos ayudarte a decidir cuál conservar.
