Preserve Our Legacy's The Givin' Range Social

Washington, D.C. - August 11, 2025 – Preserve Our Legacy & PurfekStorm Group are reviving the infamous charitable affair, "The Givin' Range Social" on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at the historic Langston Golf Course in Washington, D.C.  This premiere event will further highlight the urgent need for bone marrow donation among minority communities, including African American and Hispanic populations, who are most in need of donor matches.A health equity and lifesaving initiative focused on inequality aspects in underrepresented communities is what Preserve Our Legacy has served for years, as its founders, Shana and Brett Melius, anticipated. The Givin' Range Social will offer a fun-filled day of golf, music hits, networking, and community service — rooted in being active in the bone marrow registry to save lives."Bone marrow donation goes beyond a medical procedure — it's an act of hope," Preserve Our Legacy co-founder Shana Melius said. “Through The Givin’ Range, we are not only advocating to end violence in our communities but providing education and agency so that we can do the work it takes to make these programs sustainable.”A historic site, if ever there were one, Langston Golf Course was built to provide inroads for African Americans into the world of sports and culture and is an ideal metaphorical backdrop to a project that promises to save both life and legacy. Diverse golf activities, live entertainment, and networking with leaders, advocates, and influencers in the fight to save lives by providing bone marrow for transplant will be signposts throughout the day for attendees.Sadly, minority communities continue to be largely unrepresented in the national bone marrow registry, and today African Americans have less than a 30% chance of finding a matching donor.
