About this Event
Prenatal & Postnatal Private Yoga Therapy at OneSpace
A private, one-to-one yoga therapy offering with specialized support for expectant and postnatal mothers at OneSpace near Commercial Drive.
Pregnancy, birth, postpartum recovery, and motherhood can bring profound changes to the body, nervous system, emotions, identity, relationships, and daily rhythms.
This personalized yoga therapy space offers an opportunity to pause, be supported, and explore practices created around your individual needs and current stage of motherhood.
Unlike a general yoga class, you will not be asked to follow a predetermined sequence. We begin with you: what you are experiencing, what you would like support with, and what feels accessible for your body right now.
No previous yoga experience or flexibility is required.
What Is Prenatal and Postnatal Yoga Therapy?
Yoga therapy is the individualized application of yoga practices in support of a person’s health and well-being.
It can feel somewhat like a therapy session because we begin with a meaningful conversation about your experiences, needs, and goals. However, yoga therapy is not psychotherapy, physiotherapy, midwifery, or medical treatment. It is a complementary practice that uses yoga-based tools within the scope of a Certified Yoga Therapist.
Depending on your needs and stage of motherhood, your session may include:
- Restorative yoga and supported rest
- Gentle, accessible movement
- Personalized prenatal or postnatal adaptations
- Breath regulation
- Somatic awareness and embodiment
- Meditation and guided relaxation
- Mudras
- Nervous system regulation
- Reflection and self-inquiry
- Practices for cultivating self-compassion and awareness
- Simple yoga-based tools that can be incorporated into daily life
Some sessions may include very little physical movement. Yoga therapy is not about how much you can do or how well you can perform a pose. It is about discovering what feels safe, appropriate, and genuinely supportive for you.
How Yoga Therapy May Support Mothers
Your yoga therapy goal may relate to:
- Finding greater rest during pregnancy or postpartum
- Supporting nervous system regulation
- Adapting to physical and emotional changes
- Reconnecting with your body after birth
- Developing a gentler relationship with your changing body
- Supporting your well-being while living with fatigue, discomfort, or other symptoms
- Creating space for yourself within the demands of motherhood
- Exploring a changing sense of identity
- Moving through grief, loss, or a significant transition
- Deepening meditation, self-awareness, or spiritual connection
- Developing a realistic personal practice that fits your life as a mother
You do not need to arrive with a perfectly defined goal. During our initial session, we can explore what you are experiencing and identify an appropriate focus together.
Yoga therapy does not promise to cure a condition or eliminate symptoms. Instead, it offers individualized yoga-based practices that may support comfort, regulation, self-awareness, rest, and quality of life.
Supporting Rest and Restoration
Pregnancy, birth recovery, interrupted sleep, caregiving, and the mental load of motherhood can make it difficult to access genuine rest.
Many yoga therapy practices support opportunities for the nervous system to move toward greater rest-and-digest activity. This does not mean that healing occurs only in one nervous system state or that relaxation can be forced. Rather, we explore the conditions that may help your individual system experience more support, steadiness, and restoration.
The practice is gradual, collaborative, and responsive to how your body and nervous system respond.
How the Yoga Therapy Process Works
We typically begin with one 90-minute initial session. This gives us time to get to know one another, discuss what is bringing you to yoga therapy, and collaboratively identify the initial focus of our work.
If continuing feels appropriate, we then work together through a six-session yoga therapy cycle centred around that goal.
Across these sessions, we may:
- Explore which practices are most supportive for you
- Notice how your body and nervous system respond
- Adapt the practice as your pregnancy, recovery, or needs evolve
- Develop tools that can be used in daily life
- Deepen rest, reflection, meditation, or self-inquiry
- Reflect on changes, challenges, and progress
- Create a personalized practice that feels realistic and sustainable
At the end of the six-session cycle, we take time to reflect on our work together. Some people feel complete after one cycle, while others choose to continue into another six-session cycle focused on a newly identified goal.
During pregnancy, for example, your needs may change from one trimester to the next. A later cycle might focus on a different stage of pregnancy, preparation for birth, postpartum restoration, adapting to motherhood, or another goal we identify together.
Yoga therapy can therefore be used for one focused cycle or continued cyclically as your body, circumstances, and priorities evolve.
The process is collaborative rather than prescriptive. Your feedback, boundaries, and lived experience help guide every session. Although each cycle provides a meaningful structure for our work, outcomes cannot be guaranteed, and every person’s process will unfold differently.
Childminding at OneSpace
OneSpace offers onsite childminding through its Children’s Atelier. This can allow you to attend your private yoga therapy appointment while your child is cared for within the same building.
Afternoon childminding is currently offered during select hours, including Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 1:30–5:00 p.m. Childminding schedules, eligibility, availability, and rates may change, so please confirm the current information directly through OneSpace before choosing your yoga therapy appointment.
Childminding is operated by OneSpace and must be booked separately from your yoga therapy session.
To arrange childcare:
- Download the OneSpace Community App
- Review the Children’s Atelier options for your child
- Book and pay for childminding directly through the app
- Confirm that your childcare booking overlaps with your yoga therapy appointment
The Children’s Atelier currently serves children ages 1–5, with different rates and onboarding options for crawlers and walkers. OneSpace currently lists walker rates between $12 and $20 per hour and a crawler rate of $25 per hour.
Parents and guardians must remain onsite throughout the childminding booking—which you will be while attending your yoga therapy session.
Childminding is not included in the $225 yoga therapy session fee, and availability is not guaranteed. Please reserve your child’s space separately and in advance.

Important Scope-of-Practice Note
Yoga therapy is a complementary and educational practice. It does not diagnose, cure, or treat medical or psychological conditions and is not a substitute for prenatal, postnatal, medical, physiotherapy, midwifery, or mental-health care.
Please continue working with your healthcare providers throughout pregnancy and postpartum recovery. Depending on your health history, symptoms, pregnancy, birth experience, or stage of recovery, medical clearance may be requested before beginning or modifying physical practices.
You do not need to arrive with the perfect goal or the right words. We can begin with what you are experiencing and explore together what meaningful support could look like for you.
