About this Event
A favorite plant deserves a pot you made yourself. Join teaching artist Tempest NeuCollins at Graye’s Greenhouse to build and decorate your own air-dry clay planter, ready to take home that afternoon.
Tempest will guide you through shaping your pot from clay, then you'll try sgraffito: scratching through a layer of color to reveal the clay underneath. Each mark brings your design into view. Try leafy shapes, a repeating pattern, or a handful of simple lines. You don’t need to know how to draw, and Tempest will have examples to help you get started.
You’ll leave with a beautiful handmade planter to display your favorite plant in. This beginner-friendly workshop is part of Pottery at Graye’s, our monthly series exploring different ways to make and decorate pots. Join us for this one or come back to try something new each month.
All materials are included. Your planter will need a few days to dry at home. It’s a decorative outer pot for a plant in a nursery container, which you’ll remove for watering. If you need one, plants are sold separately.
