About this Event
Slow down, get creative and let nature leave its mark. 🌿
Location: Outdoor Classroom behind Stone House Visitor Center at Dorothea Dix Park.
In this hands on pottery experience, you’ll create your own tray with clay. You’ll press real leaves and botanicals into the surface to create beautiful natural textures, then add color with ceramic underglazes.
No pottery experience needed. We’ll guide you through the process while you make the piece your own.
And once you’re done, we take it from here. 🤎
Your piece will stay with us after the workshop while it slowly dries, goes through its first firing, gets finished with a clear glaze, and returns to the kiln for its final firing.
A few things to know about your piece
🌿 Size: Your tray starts at approximately 8 inches and will finish around 6 to 7 inches after the full process. Clay naturally shrinks.
🔥 The process takes time: Your piece will be ready for pickup in approximately 3 to 4 weeks.
📧 Pickup: We’ll email you as soon as your piece is ready. Pickup will be at Dorothea Dix Park.
📦 Prefer shipping? We can ship your piece for an additional fee. Just let us know when you receive your pickup email.
🤎 A little pottery reality: We handle every piece with lots of care, but clay and kilns can be unpredictable. There is always a small possibility that a piece may crack or break during drying or firing. We’ll do everything we can to help your piece make it through the process.
Pickup Policy
We’ll have two pickup opportunities for your finished piece. If it isn’t picked up after those two opportunities, it will unfortunately be donated. We have limited space and need to make room for pieces from upcoming workshops, so we’re unable to store finished pieces indefinitely.
Thank you for trusting us with your piece and giving it the time it needs. ✨
