The Potomac Playmakers announce auditions for the second show of the historic 100th Anniversary Season, the classic farce “The Importance Of Being Earnest” by Oscar Wilde! “Earnest” depicts the tangled affairs of two young men about town who lead double lives to evade unwanted social obligations, both assuming the name Ernest while wooing the two young women of their affections.Produced with kind permission of Concord Theatricals, “The Importance Of Being Earnest” will directed by Ali Baughman. Auditions will be Monday, September 21 & Tuesday, September 22, 2026 at 7:00 p.m., and will be held at The Potomac Playmakers Performing Arts Center, 17303 W. Washington Street, Hagerstown, Maryland 21740. Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. British accents are preferred for this production. While there are 9 roles, both male and female, casting is not restricted to traditionally assigned gender roles. The show will be set in a modern setting, but will retain the location and required accents as detailed in the script. Performers of all ages, races, and gender identities are encouraged to audition. The show will run December 4-6, 2026, and December 11-13, 2026.
