The Potomac Playmakers proudly announces auditions for the unprecedented second musical offering of the Playmakers’ historic Centennial Season, the classic “Into The Woods!” With music and lyrics by Steven Sondheim and book by James Lapine, “Into The Woods” was the winner of three Tony Awards in its original Broadway run, and has delighted audiences around the world. “Into The Woods” intertwines the plots of several Brothers Grimm fairy tales, exploring the consequences of the characters’ wishes and quests. Tying the tales together is the story involving a cursed childless baker and his wife. A witch, who has placed a curse of barrenness on them, challenges them to a quest. In return, she will lift the curse. This quest leads the couple to interact with characters taken from “Little Red Riding Hood”, “Jack and the Beanstalk”, “Rapunzel”, and “Cinderella,” and other classic tales. Produced with special arrangement with Music Theatre International (“MTI”) and with all authorized performance materials supplied by MTI, “Into The Woods” will be directed by Susan Kleit. Auditions will be Monday, December 7, 2026 and Tuesday, December 8, 2026 at The Potomac Playmakers Performing Arts Center, located at 17303 West Washington Street, Hagerstown, Maryland 21740. A callback session will occur on December 10, 2026 at 7:00 p.m. Given the expected high volume of people interested in auditioning for the show, those interested in auditioning are required to reserve an audition time slot at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30E0C4CACAE28A7FE3-65193527-into#/.
