About this Event
Ten bookstores in the Sacramento and Bay Areas are hosting postcard parties in partnership with AABB during Banned Books Week, and we're one of them! Author Sandra Proudman will be our featured author guest. Join her in writing to your government representatives to fight against four nationwide bills that aim to ban books across the country. Bring your passion and anger with you - it will be put to good use! We will provide postcards and stamps.
The cafe will be fully open during this event for your snack and beverage needs; no outside food, please.
About our featured author: Sandra Proudman, a member of Authors Against Book Bans, is the Mexican-American young adult author of Salvación and The End of Us and a literary agent at Gallt & Zacker Literary Agency. She is passionate about bringing diverse voices to the forefront and believes everyone deserves a seat at the table and a voice on the page. Her writing includes heavy themes like violence against immigrants and colonization, and her client list is a diverse mix of amazing authors and illustrations, some of which have been affected by book bans.
