Η πρόταση της Πώρωσης για το φετινό «Άλμπουμ της Χρονιάς» θα λάβει σάρκα και οστά σε μια συναυλία λίγες εβδομάδες πριν το τέλος του έτους! Ένα διαχρονικό άλμπουμ που θα συνεχίσει να παίζει δυνατά για πολλά χρόνια στα στερεοφωνικά μας.
Οι MEMORIALS είναι ένα πειραματικό ποπ συγκρότημα από την Αγγλία με ψυχεδελικό ήχο, ο οποίος είναι ταυτόχρονα μελωδικός και αντισυμβατικός. Αντλούν έμπνευση από κάθε γωνιά —πραγματική ή φανταστική— των δισκοθηκών, συμπεριλαμβανομένων των ειδών folk, dub, post punk, πειραματικής μουσικής σε κασέτα, kosmische, spiritual jazz και Canterbury prog. Φανταστείτε τη Nico να τραγουδάει με τους Can, σε παραγωγή του David Axelrod, και θα έχετε μια αρκετά καλή εικόνα, τουλάχιστον για… λίγα τραγούδια. Με το αταξινόμητο στυλ τους, που αναμιγνύει διάφορα είδη, ταιριάζουν άνετα δίπλα σε συγκροτήματα όπως οι Stereolab, Portishead και The Velvet Underground. Άλλοι πάλι θα έλεγαν ότι η ατμόσφαιρα και η αύρα τους θυμίζουν τους Broadcast, Electrelane και Soundcarriers. Οι περιοδείες τους έχουν οδηγήσει σε όλο τον κόσμο, συμπεριλαμβανομένων προσκλήσεων να ανοίξουν συναυλίες των Stereolab και των Tortoise.
Το ντουέτο της Verity Susman (Electrelane) και του Matthew Simms (Wire) δημιουργήθηκε το 2022. Αφού κυκλοφόρησαν δύο εκλεκτικά instrumental soundtrack ταινιών το 2023, το δίδυμο άρχισε να ηχογραφεί τη δική του μουσική, με μεγαλύτερη έμφαση στην τραγουδοποιία, με αποτέλεσμα ένα δυναμικό και τολμηρό ντεμπούτο άλμπουμ, το «Memorial Waterslides» του 2024. Το επόμενο άλμπουμ τους κυκλοφόρησε τον Μάρτιο του 2026 – και ήταν το εκπληκτικό άλμπουμ «All Clouds Bring Not Rain».
Οι MEMORIALS αντλούν έμπνευση από το πνεύμα της free jazz για να δημιουργήσουν κοσμικά ταξίδια στο ψυχεδελικό ροκ, την φολκ παράδοση και την γεμάτη πάθος αναλογική ηλεκτρονική μουσική.
Η μουσική τους χαρακτηρίζεται από μεγάλη ποικιλομορφία, διατηρώντας όμως τη δική της ξεχωριστή ταυτότητα, και παράγεται εξ ολοκλήρου από τα δύο μέλη στο δικό τους στούντιο, με τη χρήση αναλογικών τεχνικών ηχογράφησης, reel-to-reel μαγνητοφώνων και vintage εφέ. Εξάλλου, οι συναυλίες σε όλο τον κόσμο ήταν αυτές που επέτρεψαν στο σχήμα να ανακαλύψει μια νέα δημιουργική κατεύθυνση.

Οι Masturbation Goes Cloud επιστρέφουν στη σκηνή μετά από χρόνια απουσίας. Λάτρεις της μονοτονίας και της επανάληψης, διαμόρφωσαν έναν χαρακτηριστικό instrumental ήχο με επιρροές από το kraut rock και τον μινιμαλισμό, δημιουργώντας έναν προσωπικό ήχο που κινείται ανάμεσα στην υπνωτική επανάληψη και την ψυχεδέλεια.

Porosi’s nomination for album of the year will take place in a concert a couple of weeks before the end of the year! A timeless album that will keep spinning for many years in our soundsystems.
MEMORIALS are an experimental pop band from the UK with a psychedelic sound that is both melodic and unconventional. They draw inspiration from all corners of - real or imagined - record collections, including folk, dub, post punk, experimental tape music, kosmische, spiritual jazz and Canterbury prog. Think Nico singing with Can produced by David Axelrod and you’re somewhere close, for a song or two at least. With their playful, genre-bending style they sit comfortably alongside Stereolab, Portishead and The Velvet Underground. While others might say that an atmosphere of Broadcast, Electrelane and Soundcarriers floats around like a mist. Touring has taken them around the world, including invitations to open for Stereolab and Tortoise.
The duo of Verity Susman (Electrelane) and Matthew Simms (Wire) formed in 2022. After releasing two acclaimed film soundtracks in 2023, the duo began recording their own more song-based music resulting in an assured and adventurous debut album, 2024’s Memorial Waterslides. Their follow-up was released in March 2026 – the stunning album All Clouds Bring Not Rain.
MEMORIALS channel the spirit of free jazz to create cosmic journeys into psychedelic rock, far out folk and wild analogue electronics.
Their music is incredibly varied yet retains its own distinctive identity and is produced entirely by the two in their own studio, utilising analogue recording techniques, reel-to-reel tape machines and vintage effects. Concerts around the world have allowed the band to discover a new creative focus.
