“Ethereal and experimental, propulsive and transportative, Poor Creature is weaving something truly special” – Totally Dublin
Poor Creature are Cormac MacDiarmada (Lankum), Ruth Clinton (Landless) and John Dermody (The Jimmy Cake). They take songs of love, loss and the supernatural from Irish and American traditions, reimagining them in new arrangements that are by turns sparse, dreamy, psychedelic and propulsive. Think Delia Derbyshire tuning a country music radio in The Red Room. All things being equal, which they aren’t, we the public, are hoping for imminent updates around their very anticipated debut album quite soon.
“On the live front, the act who have enthralled me for every second of all of the gigs of theirs that I have been lucky enough to witness are Poor Creature” – Donal Dineen
Nev Clay
Nev in his own words, “ lives near Newcastle and until 2018 was a mental health nurse. He's been clarting around the local music scene for 30 years, and once supported Keith Emerson out of ELP”. I first encountered Nev at a festival in Newcastle curated by Richard Dawson and it was one of the single most joyful & beautiful sets I’ve seen one man and a guitar perform, and I’ve wanted to bring him to Dublin for ages because I think everyone should see Nev play.
“Nev is a songwriter’s songwriter, as evidenced by the legion of local celebrities who have sung his praises over the years and who guest on his new record (Richard Dawson, Cath & Phil Tyler, Kathryn Williams, and more). But it’s not just songwriters – everybody who hears him falls in love, and I’ve seen it happen time and time again.” – KLOF Magazine
