What is Ekphrastic Poetry? Poetry written in response to another work of art. Join us for a delightful evening of insight and connection as we explore, together, the creative synergy between poetry and the visual arts. In this interactive workshop with poet/painter Sue Cronmiller, we’ll read some masterful examples of ekphrastic poetry, engage in stimulating conversation and inspire one another through a number of group exercises and individual writing activities designed to spark deep, unique, poetic responses to the gallery’s artwork. Sue ConmillerSue Cronmiller holds an MFA in poetry from the University of California, Irvine where she taught writing courses while developing poetry-based educational programs in the community. She has been researching, publishing and teaching poetry as program director for UC Berkeley-based University-Community Links since 2003. Sue is the founder of the non-profit poetryXchange and author of The Poets of El Sol, Mind’s Eye and Journeywork of Stars. Her paintings are currently on view in the Buenaventura Art Gallery in Harbor Village.
