This month we are featuring Tony del Zompo.
Tony del Zompo is a physical therapist who lives in Santa Cruz. After enduring a protracted period of addiction and a serious mental health crisis, Tony wrote in earnest in order to assist in his recovery. He admits that he never intended to write a book; when The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention asked him to deliver a keynote address at the Out of the Darkness Overnight Event in San Francisco, Tony wondered whether his story might perhaps be bigger than he had ever allowed himself to imagine.
Since the release of "5150 A Manic Depressive Adventure," Tony has discovered that every speaking engagement is an opportunity to create a space where individuals are seen and heard; his greatest honor is when people feel inspired to ask questions and share their stories as well.
Whether he is in front of a group of high school students, representing a non-profit organization, or appearing at a corporate event, Tony’s authenticity makes him a compelling messenger for possibility, hope, healing.
Tony has pledged to donate half of the profits from the sale of his book along with all 5150 merchandise to organizations that serve individuals enduring addiction, mental health challenges, and the unhoused members of his community.
