About this Event
The Everyday—the common scenes of rushed day, the unnoticed dandelion on the sidewalk or the unaddressed passerby. It is a mindset of mundanity, one that ushers us hastily along the immediate in-one’s-face thing that is Life. This approach to how we navigate our days is one that diminishes us, one that will do so in perpetuity unless, that is, we begin to look at the World with the eyes of a poet. Every lyrical wrinkle of an infinitely gesturing face, every fold of leaf, every loosened petal-soft breath is experienced by the poet as the Monumental. The substance of life, its gleaming amber-thick meaning, is as free to behold as any ray of sunlight. All it takes is the poetic vision, and luckily, we are all poets.
Join me, Poet Michael Angelo Abreu, in this workshop. Together, we shall slow down our pace, expand our vision, and soak in the wonders that will come to us. Through poetry prompts and honest discussion we will split apart the hard shelled Everyday and observe what new sapling thoughts arise—not from our intellect, but from the deeper mind that hides in the secret garden of our hearts. This in person workshop will be hosted on Saturday April 18th from 11-2pm at Weavers Way Outreach Office in Germantown.
