Playpen, a weekly drama club at Little Fernwood, returns this Monday, October 19th, from 7-9pm, for four weeks. "A weekly drama club facilitated by Andrew Sawyer at Paul Phillips Hall, Little Fernwood Gallery, in Fernwood. The fall session is from 7–9pm on the following Mondays: Oct 19, Oct 26, Nov 2 and Nov 9.
A typical 2-hour class is structured as follows:
Check in and housekeeping / Warm up (vocal and physical) / Theatre games and exercises / Break / Scene study, improv games, collective creation, ensemble work / Reflection and discussion.
We’re working with Caryl Churchill’s play “Love and Information.” Copies will be provided. We’ll also create work of our own. Depending on interest, we can plan a public outcome.
Classes are donation-based. I’d at least like to cover the venue rental - $360 for the six weeks. Please send any transfers to [email protected] with the title "Playpen" somewhere in the message.
A note from Andrew: I’ve been on stage since I was a kid and I hold a BFA in Acting from Concordia. I've directed, written, performed or created dozens of productions over the course of my life. My intention with this group is in line with Pivot's purposes - to hold space for unwinding and refinding ourselves through play. In the inimitable words of Calvin and Hobbes, “Let’s go exploring!”"
